The Pacific Northwest experiences a wide variety of climates. Oceanic climate ("marine west coast climate") occurs in many coastal areas, typically between the ocean and high mountain ranges and subarctic climate occurs farther north. Mediterranean climate occurs in various areas such as Victoria, British Columbia and the San Juan Islands.
